Walking with Sadie

Sadie is my Beagle/Jack Russell mix that I take on walks with me.  She is the happiest dog you will ever see, she seriously does not stop wagging her tail. I could be yelling at her and she still wags her tail (slower, but it's still wagging). She's a sweetheart and so taking her for walks has been so nice for both of us, she is getting the exercise she so desperately needs (so she doesn't tear apart my house during the day) and I am getting the exercise I need.  So far for the past 3 mornings we've gone on a half hour walk and when we get back she instantly drinks half a bowl of water and then goes to lay down. She's beat. I guess I walk a bit to fast for her? :) I used to try and take her for runs before I got pregnant but she would stop halfway through and lay down! So our walks are going well and she seems incredibly happy that we're going on them. The other beneficial thing for me about walking is that it will make labor easier, this is a huge benefit to

Leg Cramps are the devil.

Imagine this, you're sleeping peacefully, dreaming away..all of the sudden it feels like a shark has taken hold of your leg muscle and is ripping it apart. It jolts you from a peaceful sleep and sends you hopping around the room trying to shake it off, the invisible shark. You imagine that your leg is being ripped to pieces and don't dare to look down because you know it won't be there when you look down. Then you finally summon the courage up to look down... your leg is fine. It's intact. You've just experienced one of the most not fun parts of pregnancy: a leg cramp. So far in my pregnancy there has been nothing quite as painful as the leg cramps (aka charlie horse). I seriously thought my muscle was going to just be gone out of my leg and I'd have to deal with it for the rest of my life. Now, as a runner I've had my fair share of charlie horses and those were not pleasant at all. However, this was far worse than any charlie horse I've gotten from runn

Back on the wagon?

After my post last week I really did take what I was saying and apply it. I took the pup for an hour long walk on Friday (that may have been a wee bit to long just out of the gate). It felt good to actually be out there moving around and getting some exercise. The pup seemed to enjoy it as well! I also did indeed start logging my food again. I slacked on the weekends but I figure I'm just starting back again and won't be as obsessive about it as I was previously just yet. That took about 6 months for me to get to that point where I had built it into my habits. I went for a half hour walk this morning and I think that was just perfect, I felt good being out there (as disgustingly humid as it was) and I'm feeling pretty good now. I just have to really remember to drink water all day, it is super super hot and this pregnant girl just isn't doing so well in the heat. I'm just thankful I'm not swelling all that much..yet. I started to a few weeks ago but it's gon

Back to this blogging thing. A post about pregnancy, weight gain and really inappropriate questions!

I've really missed blogging, I stopped because I wasn't blogging about weight loss, so I really didn't think anyone would want to read about my utter exhaustion, growing tummy and swollen feet. However, I have had a few friends tell me that I really should get back to writing. I think they are right, I have really missed it! I promise not to share to many gross pregnancy details with you all...just a few.. ;) I am now 4 and a half months pregnant and we are having a boy. We have a name but we are keeping it to ourselves, I've found with other friends that sometimes when you tell people what you are naming your baby they say things like "That's a silly name" or "That's a BIG name for a little boy" (these are just things I've heard). So we decided to keep it to ourselves, we figure that when little guy is here and is absolutely adorable, everyone will have to love the name. :)  I've also found that people definitely feel that it&
